4x4 wont' engage please help!
I bought a 2000 f250 bout 3 weeks ago, and the day i bought it i test the 4x4 out and it worked and later that night i needed and it worked then do. Its the electronic by the way....anyways now it won't engage. I've tried manually locking the hubs....doesn't seem like anything is happening when i turn the ****. Any clues? maybe a fuse or something? I appreciate all your guys' help! Thanks

Welcome! With the key in on, but the truck off, turn the switch and see if you can hear the motor running. If the fuse is fine, check to see if maybe the plug got knocked loose on the transfer case. The motor may have died. Check for continuity at the plug to see if you are getting any power at all if the fuse is fine. Sometimes mine won't engage so I backup a little then move forward and the motor shifts.

I'd agree with new2diesel. If you turn in the hubs manually, that should engage the hubs to the axels. If you want to be sure, jack up the front end, turn in the hubs and spin the wheel by hand. If you're in 2wd and park, the front axels and driveshaft will turn. If you're in 4wd and park, you shouldn't be able to turn the wheels. If the wheels and axels/driveshafts turn while you're in 4wd and park, the transfer case isn't engaging.

ok with the key on when i turn the **** the first time it sounded like the motor was like surging then i turned the key off and back on and it just went once and that was it. Are you guys referring to the vacuum lines on the hubs? i felt them and didn't feel cracked or anything....Anybody know what fuses to check or i saw there were some relays. How do you check them? I appreciate your help would like to get her going before the SNOW!
