97 Expedition GEM module replacement

97 Expedition GEM module replacement
I have gotten a rebuilt GEM module for my 97 Expedition. I have read on some threads here that the 97 and 98 models do not require programming when the module is replaced. Can anyone tell me if this is fact or not?
