97F350 w/4407tc broke front yoke any replacements?
I have a 97 F350 with the 7.3turbo with the BW4407 tc and of couse i broke the front output yoke plowing snow 4 days ago. since then i have probably called just about everywhere in the northeast and no luck finding a replacement yoke. i know that ford discontinued the yoke prt# F5TZ7B214B. i can only find a couple complete tc's in the salvage yards and no one will just sell the yokes off them. i have the double universal cv style that the bolts go thru the yoke and thread into the (i think its called something like a cardon joint or smething like ). Does anybody know of any other yokes that might fit. Any info will be great i realy dont feel like keeping the 1-1/2 yds of sand in my bed for the entire winter.
the spicer part number is 2-4-5441 call any local driveshaft shop with a spicer master catalog. that is teh direct replacement. the splines are cut a hair different though. the diameter and spline count are identical but they cut the splines to a "point" on the new yokes and the old ones are "flat tipped". i didnt take any pictures of the difference as i didnt have a camera when i installed mine. you can either hammer and impact it on or try and file the point off of the splines of the new yoke. either way it will fit. i have been abusing mine regularly without issue.
Thanx big time. that looks just like what i have, except mine is in a couple pieces LOL.
i will be ordering that today, once i'm done i'll let yall know. Again Thank You for the info i was afraid that i was going to have to buy another TC.
i took some pics of the old yoke and the new spicer, dont know how to post them. but if anybody wants them either tell me how to post them or i will e-mail the to ya. I never said i was good with a computer.
Thanx again Joe my local driveline shop had one on the shelf for 78bucks ive just about got it finished.
.........Woohoo its all together now. all it took was a hammer and an impact gun like ya said. havent test drove it yet but i dont forsee any problems cause it went together great. well worth the time and money....Dave.
it went on just like ya said. i was able to slide it on about half way then from there i had to use a hammer with the socket that fit the nut to hammer in on until i was able to get the nut started. from there i used an impact and i would tighten the nut then hammer it a little then repeated hammer/impact untill it was seated. i was able to install the dust shield off the original yoke onto the spicer. no leakes,no vibrations. works great.
