Actually back in those days, that was probably the first I ever saw that had gone that extreme.
I mean I am 6'3" tall, and wore cowboy boots back then, so we are talking 6'5" walking under the transfer case on a street driven truck in probably 1981.
That thing looked like a good wind would blow it over.
Thinking about it, that was probably the highest street driven 4x4 I have ever seen.

There must have been a ladder rack under it somewhere with an 8' step ladder
Man that truck sounds like my old ******. flipped the springs and put 38's on it so with all considered from stock it had a 18" lift kit! I could sit underneath and tip up a beer with my dad an not touch anything. I miss that thing, funny part though is that i thought it was hard on my wallet. Didnt know anything about that till i bought my current beast.
I have used 0w40 in the past but I found that my truck wasn't going to start at -20 or so anyway without being plugged in so I stayed with 15w40 this year. 0w40 finds every possible place to leak. I have a block heater and Alaska pad on the pan and that does the trick. Wreckinball, I saw last week Inland Kenworth had Rotella by the pail, cheaper than Canadian Tire. I thought about 10w30 but again I plug in.
I am just going to stick with the 15W40 Rotella. It really runs well in the truck, easy on the pocket and with my 4000-5000 mile changes, i doubt i will ever have a problem. Anyone use the stroke oil filter for extra capacity?
I'm thifty, and even though I hate going there, I'll go to walmart for certain things because they are cheaper. And I'll probably catch some flack for this, but I use the walmart brand 15w40. It beats both Motorcraft and Rotella in price, and is most likely the same thing. I can't remember where I was, but on some forum I caught a thread discussing oils, and sometimes several brands are made in the same factory, just get different labeling. And quite frankly, I don't want to pay money for a brand name, when quality is the same for a less expensive product.
Thats my 2 cents. But honestly, I'm getting less and less at walmart as the registers always suck and have long lines, plus they are ALWAYS out of something that I specifically stopped there for because other places don't carry it (or charge a bunch more).
