speaking oils, what is up with the new titanium infused oils made by conocophillips. Now they can make liquid titanium? have they gone too far and reached too far with this claim of enhanced lifetime of engines by having liquid titanium bond to the metal of the engine? they do have a full synthetic 15W40 though, maybe they have magic too i can add to my engine?
I just switched yesterday to Rotella T 10-30.....$15 4 ltr... winter is late, but has set upon us hard this year. I used 10-30 (CTC) religiously in years past. Just got lazy and tried to use 15-40 (CTC) year round..... really tough on the truck engine and starters/batteries when NOT plugged in at -30F.
Right now it is -18F and I left it to cold soak last night.... I'm sure it will start this morning.......
I also use 10W30 Rotella-T. Year around, normally(though right now I am "testing" some Royal Purple 15W40 syn). Because my truck only gets about 2500 miles a year these days, I change oil every two years (based on UOAs). Like PLC7.3, I notice better starting in cold weather and, in theory, you'd get better fuel economy as well. My oil analysis comes out about the same with each viscosity and, after all, the truck is rated for 10W30 in moderate climates. When I towed extensively and lived in a warmer climate, I ran 15W40. That was appropriate for the climate and the operating conditions. These days, I live in a cooler part of the world and the truck doesn't work hard (if it does, it's only for a few miles hauling grain wagons during harvest). I prefer oil flow and fuel economy in this situation, so have opted for the 10W30.
I have never been in a wallmart in NY that I remember, and they stock different things in different areas but all of them that I have looked for oil in had rotella, a lot of them even have tractor hydrolic oil in 2 and 5 gallon cans.
PS I hate supporting wallmart but when you are in a truck your options are limited sometimes.
I even went to there web site to see if I could get some of the stuff you guys get. But of course they sell NOTHING automotive from the web.
Scatgo, go to the Walmart near the Source Mall, next to Costco and Fortunoff. It used to be a K-Mart. They have Motorcraft, Rotella and the other diesel oils, including Motorcraft filters.
I run Esso XD3 0W40 full synthetic year round in everything I own that doesn't use oil. I have yet to have an oil related issue. And, I'm sure the 0W40 is why my PSD would start at -38 without being plugged in...
I usually run 6500 or so mile intervals, but the last change in the Dodge ended up being closer to 9500, analysys came back showing the oil still had a bit of life left in it.

I use Delvac 15w40, seems to work good.
I buy it at Wall Mart,
A lot of don't know it but wall mart only averages 3-4 percent profit on the stuff they sell..
With that being said, I'm not sure if I care for their way of doing business, but don't have a problem with it..
I shop there but also try to shop at the smaller shops...
Central Islip, I was at a mall back in the early 80's and there was a 4x4 picup sitting there I could walk under.
19 million shocks, chrome everything underneath and probably 36" x 12" mud tires.
I wanted to sit there till the driver came out so I could see how he got in it, I am 6'3" and could not reach the door handle, but I had to leave.
Must be some deep mud holes out there somewhere, like I am sure all that chrome has ever seen mud.

The only time you ever saw a truck like that was on Long Island?
