have had this truck for six months now, since it started getting cold out it has started sugreing at road speed, 45 to 55 mph. after it heats up to operating temp it will go away. have had it to the dealer twice now, last time was friday. the put the lates download in it is what the said. it will do it with or with-out the bh plugged in. wiht bh pluged in it seems to make more engine noise than with out. it will get up to speed fine, it will build boost and has all the power i will ever need. the shop also said they cleaned the egr valve any ideas? thanks

Surging is often caused by the EGR valve. You said they cleaned it. Why did they not replace it? Was this a Ford shop? Unless you are over on miles, you should still be under the emissions warranty for this kind of thing. Surging will almost certainly be related to a covered emissions item.
it was a ford shop and I only have 75k on the truck, they kind of left a bad taste. this is all new to me but the egr would cause this when it is cold?
Yes it could. I'm surprised a Ford shop would try to clean it. Guys sometimes DIY clean them, but under warranty they should have just replaced it. The fact that they did something to that valve makes me think they suspected it too.
But best just tell them it's surging. Let them figure out why. It would not be good to go in and tell them some idiot (me) told you to replace the EGR valve.
