I've been reading up on the two differnet CPS Back Vs. Blue. I have also noticed that a majority of the people decided to be apart of the wait and see what happens to other peoples trucks first camp. This was back in 2006, so my new question is: For all you people who stuck with black and waited to see what happened with other's trucks, what have you done so far? Have you stayed with black or went to blue? Also for those of you who have seen this show called "Red Vs. Blue", that is what all the CPS threads remind me of and make me laugh. For those of you who don't know what that show is, it is actually a series of movies made from the vidia game "HALO".
The new CPS that ford gave us for a recall it Gray, so that one needs to be added to the mix. But to answer your question, a large part of us still have our black ones in and plan on staying that way. I have an extra black one, plus an extra gray one, for the guy on the side of the road.
Yah I've read all the bad things about the new grey one, I will probably stay with black, but if eveyone went blue that might be something worth doing, so long as it doesn't cause any accelerated long-term wear.
I went to International and got two of thier grey ones. So far no problems. Used one to replace bad black one. Keep a new grey one and a so so used black one in the truck as spares. The so so black one did get me to where I was going when the other one failed.
Ha Ha Ha! Thats funny because I know about your 459 post thread from 06. I only personally know one person in my life that would push a topic that far, but thats because he's been in that career field for over 30 yrs.
The blue ones retard the timing, some have estimated by as much as 4 degrees or so.
I had read that the blue one advances the timing therefore giving better mileage and power. Sure would be nice to see some hard research on this so we would know which way it is.
I can understand where the stronger signal from the magnet would create a more precise even impulse to trigger the injectors which would make the engine run smoother and generally better.

Pocket is correct. The blue cps retards the timing.
When you retard the timing, the engine will run smoother.
