Runs great cold then after 20 mins....

Hey, new to the site guys love all the info on here!! Thought I'd throw one out here and see what you all come up with. I own 3 psd 1997-2001-2006, on the 01 it will run cold then after 20 mins or so she starts breaking down, service soon light comes on ( leaves no codes??) no power. Have changed Fuel filter, cam sensor and the oil is clean and at level. Love to fix it here at my house, hate to see it on a tow truck. Thanks guys,Dave.

What you reading the codes with? I have seen codes that didn't show up, on a generic code reader, that were given on my old Superchips tuner and Auto Enginuity. A sticky IPR can cause these symptoms. I'm going through a similar situation myself. Parts are on order. I will know if this cures it next weekend.

Roland, You hit it right on the head! used a real nice shop scanner that showed no codes, then used my bullydog programer and pulled up a 1316. Checked both vc and cleaned a real dirty conection on the passinger side and so far so good. Thanks. Dave in Monrovia, Md.

Welcome to FTE. If your problem comes back, there's an identical plug on the other side of the valve cover gasket underneath the valve cover. Those have been known to work their way loose.

If you have to go under there let us know. You'll want to torque a few things down while you're under there and shim the connector so it doesn't come loose again.
