don't know where it is but did you follow the wires from the front all the way to the back? Somewhere around the spare tire where the wires branch off I would think you would see the connection to plug in.

Just wonder though if maybe the van is not pre-wired and that may be why. If so then you are looking at running them from the eng compartment back.

You need to get the correct wiring harness assembly for your particular vehicle. Just because the wires are present for the brake controller, it doesn't mean the vehicle is ready and setup to put a hitch on and go.

The new harness assembly's are plug and play. No wire cutting, soldering, taping, water proofing. Generally you unplug wires in the rear and plug them back into the new harness. Run the trailer connector to the hitch and secure the assembly.

What you probably found underneath the back of the van was a 4 flat wiring connector. As far as I know there is not a plug in for a 7 round connector for your van... nor is there a plug in brake controller for it (I could be wrong). What you'll need to do is convert the 4 flat to a 7 round and then run the wires from the brake controller back to your new 7 round connector. The brake controller will have four wires... a ground, a wire to the cold side of the brake switch, a wire to the 7 round plug, and finally a wire to the positive side of the battery. From the battery you can also run a hot wire back to the 7 round plug so you can charge batteries and what not from your 7 round.

This kit is probably the way to go: Brake Controller 7 & 4 Way Installation Kit - 10 Gauge ETBC7 : Trailer hitch bike rack and trailer hitches - etrailer.com

They list this part # for a plug in for the brake controller but it seems like the van has to have a pre-wired 7 round for the factory: Universal Brake Control Wiring Adapter Ford, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mercury 20260 : Trailer hitch bike rack and trailer hitches - etrailer.com

Forgot to add that if your van is pre-wired this is what you would need: Universal Brake Control Wiring Adapter Ford, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mercury 20260 : Trailer hitch bike rack and trailer hitches - etrailer.com It shows both the male and female ends.
