Fuel Filter Drain Leak

I think I might have a slight leak with my fuel filter drain. I opened it and drained water a couple of weeks ago and now I smell diesel. Any ideas on how to fix?

It's a problem that became very common when Low Sulpher Diesel was replaced with Ultra Low Sulpher Diesel.

If your drain is leaking, Guzzles fix will cure what ails ya!

Don't forget to get the O-rings from Guzzle too. They are Military spec and the best $6 bucks you'll spend.

Mine was leaking a while back. Unfortunately, it was not the o-rings. The plastic ball valve was scored and wouldn't seal. Had to replace the valve.

Good luck.

Ouch.

How much did Ford soak you for the part?

That is why it is important to replace that 3rd o-ring in the valve stem, it keeps dirt and grime out of the valve body.

Of course if it has already gotten in and done it's damage, it's too late but most of the time the valve will start leaking due to the original Buna-N o-rings and ULSD rather than a damaged valve stem. When it first starts leaking is the time to get a new stem o-ring in there. It's the guys that only replace the two main o-rings that will be buying Ford's $75 drain valve down the road.
