is my trans shot
hey guys. i bought this truck its a 95 f 150 with a 5 speed and when i bought it the guy had told me that the top plate was worn out. he said that the ball and tops plate need to be replace but i took them off because i am pulling the trans and they look ok. so what do you guys think do you think i got hosed?

I think it says he only has gears 3 and 4 but it will not shift into either of them. He pulled the top off and my guess is something didnt go together well cause manual trannys are pretty self diagnosing and if you dont put the forks back in right, well, yeah.

i dident take ne thing off just the shifter. and yes i mean i only have 3 and 4th gear. im sorry about the bad post. i wrote it while tryin to do 100 things at once. the truck will only go into 3rd and 4th gear the guy said that the ball on the end of the shifter and the top plate had woren out and thats y it wont go into gear. has anbody heard of this?i found a junkyard tranns for 400 bucks should i just throw that in.

with out seeing it could be broken rail, fork, hard telling. I picked up a ranger a few years back the " high school kid " power shifted in to 2nd and broke the fork and jammed the rail so far forward it locked the shifter up. I was able to pop the rail back but had no 2nd gear with out replacing the fork.

yea get the new trans and a clutch kit go get ur flywheel turned and get u a bottle of lucas and some gear oilr and spend 4 hours putting it in and if u have some more extra cash get new bushings for the shifter
