Question Cold weather is back again and so is the alternator noise.

So I know that people have discussed this a bunch before but I still have yet to get the problem fixed. This time though it seems louder then ever.

I know the dealerships had a TSB on it for a little while but I am now unable to find it. Do you guys think if I take it in that they will be able to fix it..for free? Its still under extended warranty.

What is this noise you speak of, the high pitch at 60 mph when it's cold out?

Thank's for the reply 04 xlt, mine seems to do the noise at around 60 mph, let off or excelerate and it goes away. I always wondered what the noise was. I've dealt with the noise for four yrs. now.

Yeah mine does it when its super cold, up until I hit about 40-50 or until the truck gets warm. It's still there but I just haven't felt like taking it to the dealership for it.

Plus I am considering getting a more powerful alternator to help with the plow. The stock one works but it dims the lights quite a bit.

the only time mine makes noise is around -30 Annoying as heck going to the moutains last week end. But the temps wear dipping around -40 to 48 too so I was just happy the truck made her with no issues I gotta think about a winter front for this truck.
