Go to lunaticams.com then go under cams. they have a great selection of street cams. After that, go to summitracing.com so you can get a better deal on the same cam w/ lifters included. Just remember to add "lun-" to the beginning of the part number since its not straight from lunati. You will get a great deal this way. This is how I got my Bracket Master II cam and lifter kit. Then once your done doing this you'll wait a couple of days maybe troubleshoot a little bit then your ready to rock
Well its been a whie guy but plans have changed and i will be going with a roller 302 out of a 91 mustang and a aod with 373 to 411 gears so the cam fild has opend up. any ideas ?
The Explorer cam will leave you wanting more.. it's has a 0-4500rpm powerband, and the B cam is the complete opposite with a 3000-6000rpm powerband. In between those two is the Comp 35-320-8 with a 1000-5000rpm powerband.. basically a high lift HO cam.
Those two cams are identical except that the 320 has 2deg tighter LSA.. that's the last two numbers after dash(XE264HR-12). The 320 is the right choice for a mass air motor and will make more TQ while the 349 is what you need for SD.
But the XE264HR-12 say they are made to be used it 1.7 rockers and i dont think my pistions will work with that , and my valve spring are rated for .555 lift
My truck will have mass air, A9p computer , how do you like the cam? Lot of bottm end and litte top end ? Good loppeing ideal?
The idle is just noticable and the powerband is typical for a 5.0.. soft at low rpms but strong from 2500rpm up until you lift off the loud peddle. My truck is the heaviest F150 available at the time except for the centurion models so 3.55 gears simply aren't enough for a 5.0 to move it with any authority, I plan on swapping in 4.10's as soon as I get some $$. I think the truck will perform much better once I get gears and milage should improve too, right now it's doing about 13mpg mixed.. which is about the same as the 5.8 I had in there.
P.S. And like I stated elsewhere you don't have to use 1.7 rockers with these cams... they will work just fine with 1.6 rockers.
