Yes you could use a '94 roller cam but it's not likely the block is roller ready(assuming it's a truck motor) meaning it won't have the raised bosses in the valley where the spider bolts down or the taller lifter bores so you would need to use linkbar roller lifters. If the motor is from a mustang then it already has the HO roller cam in it. If you're good with the cost of those lifters and the matching pushrods then it'll certainly work but it's not necessary to get a running motor as the stock cam in a regular 302 motor will work with EFI.
Ok just found out the motor was out of an f250 so its not the h.o.
Ouch -- not much hp and torque in that one ..........don't get me wrong, 5.0s can go 500,000 miles, but can you pass and look for something with a little more torque??.................those truck motors are weak to say the least.......
So I dont need to swap cams just swap the lower intake, plenum, and all the other stuff right?
If you get another 5.0 EFI truck motor you don't need to touch it besides mounting your accessories on it, if you get a early carb motor then you have to strip it bare and put all the EFI stuff on it including the upper and lower intake and everything that is mounted on it, the accessory brackets and wiring of course.
What vehicle did your EFI parts come from?
P.S. If you get an early carbed or EFI motor with a flat tappet cam in it(pre '92 trucks) and you want a bit more power out of it and don't mind changing the cam then the COMP 31-255-5 is a healthy upgrade, is EFI friendly, and won't require any other parts besides new flat tappet lifters but these are often sold as a package with the cam for under $200.
