i am installing a navigation system in my 09 expedition and like any other aftermarket stereo you need to hook up keyed power. well the expedition doesnt have a keyed power. where should i get it from? and why doesnt it have a keyed power for the factory stereo?
This is all I could find, it's for an 08, but it's a place to start.

Keyed power (accessory) is done through a data (multi function) wire in most new vehicles INCLUDING your 09 Expedition. Are you using a harness to do your nav install? If not, you should get Metra part number XSVI-5520-NAV. It will give you all the wires you need including the VSS wire for your nav.
i didnt even see that one when i was looking around for interfaces and harnesses, which sucks i ended up getting the Metra AFDI-RSE-01. metra doesnt even have that on there website.
i read the instructions but i think that is saying to connect that to the vehicles 12 volt switch source and the rss of the vehicle not the aftermarket unit.
