I was curious if anybody on here modified there '99 - '04 dash opening to fit a true double-din stereo? I'm not too keen on the look of a single-din stereo and Kenwood makes a really nice touch screen stereo that would blend in real well and keep a nice factory look. The thing is, FORD used that "funky" form factor during those years and a true double-din doesn't fit. I can't seem to find a straight forward answer to the exact (I mean exact, as in millimeters!?) dimensions of a double-din stereo sleeve. I have thought about getting an '05 on up dash panel, and using that instead, but I'd really like to try to hang onto my '99 style components inside. I have seen that article about the guy who put a 6CD changer in his truck from a newer FORD... I wouldn't mind doing that, but I'd really like to have USB. So, do you guys have any suggestions?
Unfortunately I can't help with the modification of a 99-04 dash, as I never tried it myself, but I AM familiar with Kenwood's touchscreen double DIN stereos....I actually have two of them for sale. If you end up doing it and want to save a couple bucks on the radio let me know. I have a DNX7100 w/ KCA-BT100 blue tooth module, and a DNX6140 with built in bluetooth. Both are in mint condition, and are currently packed in the factory packaging. I had the 7100 in my '06 F250, and the 6140 was in my '06 trailblazer.
Just thought I would offer them at a discount if you're interested.
Well, chances are I'm not in the market just yet, but I was curious as to what you are askin' for either one? The DNX6140 looks like the one I was lookin' at, but the one I was lookin' it didn't have navigation. Thanks for the reply BTW!
I understand.....just thought I would throw it out there for you. I am not 100% sure that either of the ones I have fit in your model truck or not, but a quick stop at crutchfield.com or sonicelectronics.com (my favorite) would be able to tell you. I have been hoping to get $650 + shipping (depending on where you're at) from the DNX6140
$650 is half of what it would've been new... considering the fact it has navigation... but I'm afraid I can't swing it... now. I might add you as a friend and PM you in the future if I ever can get around to spending the $$$... thank you for the offer! It's much appreciated!
Does anybody have pictures they'd care to post of their finished 2-din installs in their early Super-Duties? Thanks,
yup....it's a good deal, but I just want to get rid off it (reasonably), and for anyone here on FTE, I'm happy to get $650. If you get the money, feel free to PM me, and see if it's still available.
I think my gallery may have pics of the DNX7100 in my 06 F250...
The offer is much appreciated and I'll be sure to holler at you if I ever find that money tree I've been looking for as long as I can remember! I didn't see a picture in your gallery... anybody else have a picture of their double-din install in their early Super-Duty?
