So, Nolan and I were talking today, comparing weight...and what I mean by that is, we were discussing the weight of our trucks.
Mine weighed in (at the municipal dump, upon leaving) at just over 8100#...that was with me in it, 1/2 tank fuel. Safe to assume that with 1/2 tank of fuel, I can square it down to about 8000#
Nolan's truck weighs in at 6600#.
Only real difference between our two trucks is my lift, and larger tires...and I have a toolbox in the back with a hilift and some tools and fluids, nothing major.
Why the weight discrepancy? I've seen lots of "whats your weight" threads and in the 3/4 ton trucks there seems to be a vast range of weights that have been reported in. I'm just wondering what the deal is.
My truck is an early 99, XLT, LB, 4" lift, 3:73, 315" AT tires on 17" steel rims.
Nolans is a 2001, no lift, 285's, stock rims, I'm assuming the same gearing, XLT, LB.
According to the scales at the dump here, I am at 7100 with full tank of fuel and me in the truck......
As mentioned, I can see transmission types making an impact. Also, the goose neck hitch I put in mine has to be close to 100 lbs. Not sure what else short of scale differences.
Mine topped in at 7996 lbs with me and about 1/3 tank of diesel. This was without the bed cover. The old fiberglass bed cover was about 150 or so lbs, putting my racing weight at over 8100 lbs. New cover is much lighter, probably around 50 lbs.
Truck is a Lariat, 4x4, automatic, CCSB with a 6" lift, 20x10 wheels, and 36" tires. Weight at the time was taken on a CAT scale.
