Unplugged ICP

I unplugged the ICP sensor and truck will not start. Also white smoke at start up. Could this be the cause of my rough idle upon start up?

You need the ICP sensor plugged in. Rough idle at startup, particularly when cold, is usually injector or FICM related. Why did you unplug the ICP sensor???

I was just trying to see what was causing rough idle.

By randomly unplugging critical sensors? Do you mean you unplugged the EGR valve?

unpluging the icp and putting the truck in to default is a correct test for a idle concern. if the concern went away it would be a sensor/connector issue.

Really? Never heard of that. So if the ICP sensor is bad and you unplug it the ECM idles at some default settings? Good to know.

yup thats is one way to test a bias icp. you can drive it like that as well if needed but not really advised. so If you get stuck on the road its one thing to try.

Thanks for the info. It must just default to an open-loop ICP control instead of using the sensor for closed-loop control.

off the top of my head it defaults to 2800 psi. Ill check when i have a chance. I have a 6.4 to do a fuel system rebuild on for the next 2 or so days. so it will be a little while. also that will kick a cel for circuit hi/low but it will run and drive with out it. like I said it just goes default

I already replaced EGR, so next thing I thought of was to unplug ICP.
