Put money on it that you have an issue with your GP's or GPR. When was the last time you checked or replaced either one? In temps like that you definitely need the GP's working properly to get these trucks started especially if you don’t have the block heater plugged in. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
they were both replaced two years ago, could it be the programmer it locked up pcm this last summer and truck has never started the same after got it unlocked
I doubt it's your programmer. I know people have had issues with Edge Evolution messing up their PCM. Thankfully mine has been good to me. But what you are describing sounds like classic GP or GPR problem. Raw fuel means your injectors are firing. Have you tried starting it with the block heater plugged in for awhile? I've heard of GPR's only lasting people 2 months, and you said yours is 2 years old. As far as lifespan on the GP's it's how much they are used and also what brand you go with too can make a difference. Some of the cheaper one's don't last as long and for sure don't use Autolite. Most people on hear go with the Motorcraft GP's. They seem to hold up the best. A lot people on here opt for the heavy duty Stancor relay part # 586-902 because the OEM replacement ones are prone to wearing out real fast. I’m going with the Stancor for my truck here real soon. Here is one post that talks about it. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/822068-glow-plug-relay.html You can search and find other posts that talk it too. One way to quickly rule out the GPR is to run a connection between the two large posts with like a screwdriver for about 30 seconds. If the relay is bad, but your GP are working this will bypass the relay and send power to the GP. Also check out this thread. It has a lot good info about the GP system and diagnostics for it. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/424709-glow-plug-gpr-hard-winter-start-and-white-smoke-thread.html<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
thanks for all of the information, dad really thinks that it is the programmer
