Alot of guys, including myself, have gone with Silverstar Ultra 9005's. I got mine at Walmart, IIRC they were less than $40. The 9005 is 65 watt where the stock ones I think are 42 watt. They DO make a difference!

Are the 9005 bulbs a direct swap or do they use difference plugs, etc?

On my 07 it was a direct fit.
I just made sure the bulbs had the 90 deg. bend on the plug end.

Any concerns about extra heat being built up in the small fog lamp housing?

Curious of the lamp may melt the front lens cover or pull to much wattage through the stock wiring?

Curious.... as I have thought about doing this as well.

had 9005's on my 03 Ex for it's life...
and the 05 Ex has had them in there since I bought it...

no worries, just plug and play - same everything except BRIGHTER

re heat - I've not had any issues, but mine are usually cooled by 80 mph winds

Correct- they are a direct fit. Had mine 2 yrs now and no problems so far. They help alot -with my truck being lifted, they light up the lower part of the road pretty well.
