hi kevin,i found the email for the fellow that sold me the kit and emailed him tonight and waiting for an anwser i will forward it as soon as i hear from him hopefully he is still selling the brackets/or the kit regurds joe
Hey guys, I notice that some of the brackets for the disc conversion tell you to get 76-78 calipers from a Caddy El dorado, and some (broncos) tell you to get the 78-87.
I have a late 70's dana 60. Can I use either of the two calipers. They have the same bolt spacing.
I have a question I have been following this thread and was wanting to do the same conversion on my 78 F-250. I was curious if you had to change master cylinder to do a complete conversion? And if you didn't does your rear brakes drag from the original master cylinder?

Stephan--At the top of this page, click on the guys call name (it is miottimouse, or something like that), and open his gallery, 'class of 78'. He has a 78 and did the conversion. I don't think he changed the mstr. But I have been doing research and speaking to a mechanic. I have a 75 and the rear rerservor is so small, that when the pads are 1/4 worn I think I'll be pushing air. So I think I will change the mstr and the proportioning valve to a manual in the cab.
hey guys i did not change the master or the prop valve thought i would try it 1st before giveing my self a "make work project" i may not of needed and so far every thing works good i stop fast and straight with no lock up on the rears had i felt that the system wasnt working as good as it should you bet i would have changed out these parts but so far happy with the results as a hd mechanic freind of mine says "if you think you got trouble getting them going, just wait till you cant get them stopped" is always in the back of my mind and restorer got ahold of the fellow with the brackets waiting to see if he can make some more pcs and will forward the info regurds joe
Thanks for the info, Joe. The only reason I mentioned the mc change is because I was thinking about how much fluid will be needed when my pads are 1/4 or 1/2 worn. The rear resv. on my mc is 1/4th or less that of the front.
It's good to know I don't need to worry about it for a long time.
