Hi I have a 1976 f-250 with drum brakes in the rear and I was wondering if anyone know of a disc brake conversion that would fit on my dana 60 rear end.
thanks
David,
That looks like a nice kit. Can you tell me about the results of your change? Did you notice a big improvement in your stopping ability? What about the front/rear braking balance?
How did the installation go? Did you have to add an adjustable proportioning valve? Did you get the kit with the E-brake? Any clearance issues?
Yes it does brake alot better. The only thing is i wished i bought
an adjustable proportioning valve. But it works better than the drums plus you get a better pedal feel. I bought there basic kit which includes the rotors and brackets, plus i bought the rubber hoses. The calipers and pads (for warranty issuses ) i bought locally and did not include the emergency cable hookups. I had no clearance issuses at all and it took between an 1 to 2 hrs to due.
David... I'm seriously considering this kit for my '76 F350. I have a few questions--if you have time. What model truck do you have? What size are the rotors? What size wheels do you have on your truck? Are the calipers singe or dual piston? Do you have any idea who makes their calipers? I would opt for the adjustable proportioning valve, but I'm wondering if you have to swap master cylinder and booster.
John i have a 1976 Ford F250 4x4 with a 360 Fe motor, C6 trans, Np 205 t-case and 4.10 gearing. I currently am running 33x12.5x16.5 tires on 16.5x 9.75 Us white spoke wheels. The front of the truck has dual piston but on the back i am using one piston calipers from the front of a 1978 Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 with matching pads. I got these at my local carquest Auto parts store. The rotors in the kit are for the 3/4 ton chevy pickup not sure on the size though. I am using my orginal master and brake booster. If you would like pictures or have any other questions Email me at 76Ranger@adelphia.net .

I don't know if any of you'll remember the Guy with the Dodge truck who showed pictures's of a d60 conversion to disc brakes. He used caddy rotors And calipers that had a E-brake setup on them...or maybe it was caddy calipers and chevy rotors....anyway it seemed to be a very decent conversion. I WISH we could just purchase the brackets to attach the axle to the calipers and use those caddy parts with the E brake setup.....but the website says that...we don't sell Pieces from our Kit's..............fd
I found this site very helpful and loaded with info. www.ncspecialties.com There is a disc brake conversion in there that I am going to do. Go to autobody then tech and custom parts, pick rear disc conversion for 3/4 and 1 tons.

There are a few people selling the conversion brackets on E-bay from time to time. They have a pattern and just have them laser cut from 3/8 material. With the brackets I'm referring to you need front Chevy 4X4 rotors and calipers OR use 76-78 Caddy ElDorado rear calipers if you want an e-brake as mentioned earlier.
The brakets were typically $60 on E-bay and I figured you could do the whole job for just under $300 with all new stuff.
mudder , do you have the email address for the guy on ebay . I tried to email him but can't remember my password and ebay won't let me send him an email. seng me a private message if you would and see if you can find out the price of a set if those plates for a 77-f250 with a dana 60 rear axle. thanks for your help.....fd
