Thanks, I would have never know about the need had I not had the urge to stuff a hot v8 into a tiny Sonoma You learn a lot from forums and experience, even with Chevrolets!

Took a little trial and error for me too........

Factory style electric fan from salvage yard. Works pretty good on my mud truck. It the only fan for the engine I have and it keeps the truck cool. I dont have too much aor flow back here, since this radiator is in the bed.
A fan large enough to create its own air flow, should be more than adequate.

Very nice setup, I assume you're running an electric pump? I was about to go that route with the Sonoma since there is nowhere for air to go with an engine compartment FULL of engine. Turns out a good shrouded E-fan with a very high dollar radiator worked

Two of the most common swaps for V8 S10 conversions are the Ford taurus fan and the Dodge Intrepid. Both are two speed, VERY high flowing fans with a built in shroud. They are kinda pricey to buy new, but find one in a junkyard and I gaurentee they will cool down your truck (given that they are correct in size to fit your radiator)

George thanks alot for the pics, greatly appreciated. I've built a few aluminum shrouds for racecars, and figure I could do the same again even though I don't have a brake anymore. Probably will take a few measurements and spend some time kicking around the salvage yard to see if I can find something that might work out for me without a huge time investment. Definitely need to get something put together though, to see if that solves my problem, or if I need to keep searching. Thanks again for everyones input.

I agree with Mark also. I have a 4 core in my 250 running a 70 429 motor and have no issues with running hot or overheating. I would skip the E-fan and go back to the stock setup with shroud. Can you snap a picture of the radiator so we can see what it is?
