T-18

I have found a T-18 at a yard for $200 is it realatively easy to rebuild? I've looked at the tech article on it and I am somewhat confident that I can do it. I've done carbs, clutches, and timing belts, but nothing as in depth as a transmission rebuild.

I just don't want to get into it and find that I will have to fork out serious money for someone to finish the rebuild.

Just out of curiosity how do you think this tranny will perform with a 2.75 9 inch rear end? The tranny I have now is a 4spd OD in crappy condition (i.e. no workie)

Thanks!

IMO the 2.75 and the 4 speed OD was a bad combo unless you are running tiny tires. I had 3.50s with 31s and it was doggy.

The T18 will be a good combo with that axle--unless you are running tiny tires.

Others here have rebuilt these without too much trouble.

This is part 1 of a series of posts on "how-to" found up top under "Articles/Specs":
