hey guys hope yall are enjoying the snow! maybe one more thing you guys can give me some guidance with, i am screwed with my upcoming emissions test!!!! i just bought my truck and it has smokestacks with no cats, and its only 22 years old, i dont think i can b/s the dmv for 3 years and there is no way this thing will pass, anyway, please tell me there is something i can do besides cutting apart my current exhaust!!??!!
A lot of the early diesels don't have cats, just mufflers (cali trucks did though). Do you have some reason other than the cat to think it might fail an emissions test?
uhh, no, guess not? if anyone could find out if an 87 f250 6.9 came with cats or not i would greatly appriciate it though!!!!! lool so what is the point of testing cars then were built pre-emissions testing?, thanks for that good point gbroehl1!
I know the OBS trucks came with cats on them. The reason the SD 7.3s evaded cats was because of split shot injectors. Ask in the IDI forums someone there is bound to know.
so i guess my truck never had any cats to begin with, so i guess i wont have a prob at emissions which i think by the way is total bull*****, but its all good as long as the dmv gets their $20

No cats on the old beast. That crap started later down the road.
