99 f150 4x4, clunk/bang/pop video clip. possible slip yoke?
About 10 months ago my 99 f150 4x4 e-cab 5.4L auto developed a nasty clunk/pop noise. After doing some research, I discovered alot of people have had problems with thier slip yokes. I read somthing about greasing it so when I had my mechanic replace all of the u-joints and grease the yoke....and that seemd to help. The noise was gone for roughly a month, and about a week ago it came back. The worst part is....it seems to have gotten worse. I've noticed it when i shift from drive to reverse and when the truck upshifts from 2nd to 3rd. Occasionally I also hear the noise when going over bumps.
I videoed myself in the truck rolling and shiftin between drive and reverse, i've included the link below, maybe someone can shed some light on this and offer some advice. YouTube - noise.wmv
I'm going to be plowing snow with this truck this winter and Im afraid of somthing breaking. Is this part readily available? is it expensive? is it labor intensive?
thanks for all of the help
