Just changed the oil in my 7.3 which calls for 15 quarts. Ended up putting in 16 quarts by accident. Any reason for concern? I could drain a quart but it is cold and windy outside. Let me know what you think.
You would have figured that Ford would have made our 7.3's with a 4 gallon/16 quart fill just to keep it simple? I think the 15 quart fill was created to ensure we buy the 3 jug/5 quart MC oil??
I always put in 3 and most of the last gallon, every time it is low. Maybe it's the way the driveway leans though I haven't noticed it leaning. Either way, mine seems to want 4 gallons.
The deal with not over filing it is so you don't get excessive amount of oil hitting the crank and foaming up.
