Headlight switch pulled off
Help! I seemed to have pulled too hard on the headlight switch in my 1976 f250 4x4. The only way to turn on the lights is to pull the loose fitting **** off, then pull out on the stem, then put the **** back on, How can I tighten the **** back onto the stem? Thanks, Dan

Glue it back on or go to the junk yard and get another ****, that kind of stuff is free at my local yard anyways. To remove the **** you have to first remove the dash bezel part way, Then pull out on the switch until the headlights come on. There is a button on top of the switch you have to press, press the button and the **** pulls right out of the switch.

You don't need to remove the bezel, stick your arm up from under the dash and then you can reach the button. No need to undo anything.

Never tried it that way, but most of the time that I remove the **** its when I'm removing dash parts.

Not only that but you can't get the dash off until the **** and stem are removed.

The headlamp switches **** was only sold with the shaft, it was not available separately.
When the button is pressed on the headlamp switch, the **** & shaft come off as a one piece assembly.
