95 Headlight switch

Had to re-register, didnt recognize me under my Lizardking username.

The **** on my 95 f150 headlight switch will not stay on.

Does the **** pull off the shaft, or is it permantly attached to the shaft?

If its not susposed to come off I can epoxy it back on.

Can I replace just the ****, the switch works fine, if so, where do I find just the ****?

PITA having to carry a pair of pliers to turn the headlights on.

QL let me correct you. The **** only released by that small metal tab at the bottom of the ****. You use a screwdriver to push the tab toward the rear of the truck and it will slide off. You might be able to bend the metal tab back down to make it grab the rod again, otherwise you'll need to replace the rod. I believe there is a release for it near the actual switch in the dash. You don't want to epoxy it because you need to pull that **** off in order to get the dash off

If you glue the **** back on, and need to work on the dash, then you just have to release the shaft instead. I believe the stealerships sell them as an assembly (**** and shaft), I had to replace one once.

The wiper **** on my '84 would not stay on because the plastic was hole in the **** was wallered out and just turned around the metal clip. I took it off, dropped some gorilla glue in the hole, inserted the metal clip back into the **** and let it set 24 hours. I then took a dental pick and dug the excess glue out from the hole so the clip would slide onto the shaft. Has been working great for years now.
