I am new to doing much of any of my own truck maintenance. I always left it to the "professionals". Much to the credit of this forum, I have began to attempt to do some more of it on my own (starting with oil/filter/lube....baby steps!!). The question I had though, is about the lube maintenance of the vehicle. I am fine now with the oil and filter, but is there anything else I should be greasing/lubricating at a regular interval? I have referenced my manual, but that didn't seem to help. Thanks so much for everyone's input!
If you have not changed any chassis parts, there is nothing to grease on the front end. You can check your universal joints, they may have fittings, mine dosent. This is of course for 2wd, 4wd may have some zerks on the front end. The ball joints, and tie rods come sealed with no way to service until they wear out and need replacing, at which time you can change them out with greasable ones.
If it has a Zerk grease it. Some white lithium on the hinges is good. Some sort of weatherstrip dressing is also good. Once a year pull the brake caliper float pins and grease them with caliper lube. That is a good time for a bearing inspection.
