Another "Clunk" in Drivetrain

I lubed my driveshaft slipjoint about 9 months ago and it cured that dreaded "clunk". Same type of thing's returned.

Is it common to have to relube that slipjoint every year?

Thanks. Craig

It's very possible I have to lube my dad's 02 slipjoint every 7 or 8 months been thinking of just drilling and putting in a zerk fitting.

Thanks guys, I'm hoping that's all it is.

I've got a link at home that I'll post tonight. It's basically a splined joint in the driveshaft (male / female) that sits inside a rubber boot on the rear half of the shaft. You pull the clamps, push the boot back unbolt the shaft from the differential and drop the shaft to grease the splines.

I was experiencing a little slack in the drivetrain from dead stop and when it got really bad I even felt a little bump when rolling to a stop. I lubed it with teflon grease 8-9 months ago and the drivetrain completely tightened up. Now that slacks back. Craig

That is helpful because I have the light clunking too. I have only had this truck about 6 months and I am getting used to the clunk.

This is what was deemed the best grease for the job about five years ago or so. I've used it with success.
