A rare find indeed seing that Ford did not start making the 'F-series' until 1948!! It must have been a secret Ford prototype.

All that you can see are lock ring, which would stand to reason if it's late 1930 era. Widow makers didn't go on the market until the later part of the 1940s. I'd agree it's absolutely worth the price if a guy lived close to justify gas, could haul it himself, etc, etc. And Bob Jones can tell us what those hub caps are worth. He's been collecting them. Stu
I'm guessing the caps are similar to these (adapted to a 48 F6). While I'd like to have the caps, if I'm going to make a 1200 mile roundtrip and face scrutiny from the Mrs. for bringing home more clobber for the yard, it will be for a complete truck; Big Job or F6-900 COE... Should be a good deal for someone on here at current price.
If that frame was within driving distance of me I'd jump on in a second. The tires even look decent. As Stu said, I've collected a complete set, plus a couple of spares, of the hub caps. I only bought the larger rear one though. I saw a F-4 a few years ago that had some kind of caps on all four, something like the Fords, and thought they looked sharp on the truck. They coincidently fit perfectly inside hub of the RV rims I have on my F-4. All I have to do to secure them to my wheels is tap a hole in two of the rear axle bolts, that's how it was done in the older trucks, and weld piece of flat stock steel to the screw on bearing dust cover with two holes tapped into it.
As for the eBay truck, I bet it was bought by a HAMB member or rat rodder just for the body. From the condition of the frame and wheels I bet it was an old fire truck. I would bet it had really nice sheet metal.
