coolant types
What is the difference between prestone for all makes and models 5 year or 150,000 mile and the stuff that you use for diesel? I have to change my antifreeze this year as it is at that time.

I am not sure what the difference is, but go to international and get there extended life. It is rated for 750,000 miles. You don't need to add anything too it. It is red stuff. You will need to throughly clean your coolant system prior to using this stuff.

That stuff doesn't have the additives for heavy duty diesel use, Kev. Stick to the coolants with heavy-duty ratings, one of which Layson pointed out. I'm going to Cat for mine -- it meets some of the most stringent requirements for coolant that exist.

Why would she give you a hard time for getting the proper coolant for your truck?
Does she also give you a hard time for getting the proper diesel oil for your engine instead of any 'ole stuff for a gasser?

she don't like spending money on what she thinks is just the same stuff. I have to explain the different things that diesel takes. She is the type of person that thinks you get in and drive and someone else repairs it. "me" when I tell her how much she complains that it's too expensive. But then she say ok.
