Just got an 00' F250 with stock locking hubs up front. The dial is crazy hard to turn. Took one all the way apart, the moving parts look fine, could use a bit more grease but not bad...the friction seems to be on the dial itself that you turn and the aluminum hub itself. I searched the forum and see some guys talking about shooting oil in etc....tried that already and can't get anything in to free them up...have to put them in a vise and turn with pliers and it's still hard to turn.
It's a shame to have to buy aftermarket hubs when it all looks fine inside but is there any hope of freeing these up? Anyone able to get oil inside to lube these up?
Just found it, looks like nobody has found a fix for a sticking dial....my internals look good, it's the ****...sucks to have to drop over 200 bucks for aftermarket hubs to fix a dirty o-ring we can't change!
Spray the outside of the hub, right on the separation, where the dial turns in the hub body, with spray silicone. There is an 0-ring in there.
Spray it, turn the dial, repeat until its free.
If it does not free up, your SOL. Get some Warns or Milemarkers 1 ton hubs.
Look on E-bay you can get them cheaper than $200.00.
