Remote Keyless Entry

Can anyone help me. My truck has power door locks but is missing the remote keyless entry modual. Is it possible to add one to my truck, or do I need to install an after market system? The dealer said I am sol, but I though I would ask here for some differant opinions and help.
Thanks guys.

I have the same and was told by a dealer tech that if you turn the ign. key on and off 8 times and leave in the on position, the doors should lock--if you have the remote lock capability. Didn't work for me, That's my story and I'm sticking to it

The dealer fed you a line of crap, you can get a remote for around $325 installed, more if you want remote start.

When I bought my 04 it did not have a remote entry key fob. I bought a new one for $40 and followed the instructions that came with it. They do require to cycle the key several times.

I do this but it doesnt work. any other suggestions. someone said that i might have too many fobs programmed?? how do i delete one?

You can just go to any part store and purchase a remote door lock system for like 35.00.

For around 150.00 any stereo shop or BestBuy will install a decent secuirty system with remote door lock with lights and audible siren instead of a horn. Just an FYI.

Is that a factory system or an aftermarket for $325? If it is a factory system does anyone have the part numbers?

I just thought I would share. I bought my 03 F350 used and was told it did not come with keyless entry. I looked around about getting it installed but never could scrap up the time or cash to go have it done.

With all these key FOB threads I got to thinking. I grabbed my extra FOB my my 07 Mustang and went to see if I get get them to sync up. Sure enough it worked and I know have the factory style locks.Press once for drivers twice for all doors etc. If I press lock twice the horn even sounds. So it seems any newer ford FOB would work. It was news to me and I just saved a couple hundred bucks.

Thanks for the info guys.

This is a Ford dealer installation which is different from a factory option.

Print pg. 89 and take it to the dealer that said you were out of luck! You will have to d/l the .pdf from this link since this site will not let me upload for ? reason. This is for the "gold package" (remote keyless entry/vehicle security system/ remote start).

vehicle specific wiring

Ive been looking for a auto start for wifes car and noticed a part that keeps comming up when I search, it BLOCKS the oem so you can add an aftermarket and use it for all the cars functions. Are u the first owner? if not is it possible the previous owner installed this and then took his equiptment with him? Food for thought?
