No Exit Handle

I recently traded in my 2005 Lariat for a 2009 King Ranch 4x4. I love the truck, but Ford omitted the door handle / grab bar and this makes it very difficult to exit the truck. Does anyone know why Ford made this decision and can this item be added?

From all the Ford people I have talked two there seems to be two reasons:
1) It would be a redundant feature since apparently most people use their steering wheel to get in/out of the truck.
2) It was removed for better visibility.

It sucks ford got rid of it. I have an 07 and I use the handle to get in and out of my truck. i have never used the steering wheel. It seems like that would be more difficult. Maybe Ill give it a try tomorrow on my way to work.

Yeah me too

Yeah I noticed this, it was on my 2003 F350, which I really needed and was on my 2006 ranger as well. I knew someone with a Dodage that used the steering wheel and after awhile the whole column had to be replaced it was'nt made to yank on.

Well, that's what they get for buying a Dodge!

As for the handle, its removal sucks. My father has an 07 and the handle is nice to have, and getting in is no trouble for me (6' 4").

Good question. But yes, there is an airbag in there, but there is also one in the passenger's side as well, and as we know that side has the handle.

Inexplicable.

it sucks cause it cost ford 2 truck sales at least...my parents were going to buy two new trucks this year....and are now keeping their 05 instead because of the lack of the handle....(both have back problems) and need that handle...

07-10 Expys have the handle. Not sure if the A pillar trim is the same shape as the F150s. You would need something for the bolts to screw into also.

Disassembly is similar left or right. Not the picture you were looking for, but you can clearly see it through the window.
