1951 F2
I bought my wife a 1951 F2. I dont know much about this ole pick-up, it has a flathead V8. Flat bed instead of a box. Not to beat up for its age.
Does anyone know if the frame is the same as a F1 (half ton). I want to hot rod it for her and need as much info as possible.
Her dreamsheet list is as follows.
1. 460 Ford (can you tell she loves to spin the tires)
2. Auto tranny with overdrive and cruise control
3. power windows
4. Cup holder for her latte
5. Disk brakes all around
6. late model Crown vic suspension
7. low profile tires, 16" Chrome wheels
Not to long a list just a couple yrs worth of work.

The F2 Frame has a longer wheel base - 8 inches. It has beefed up suspension, longer running boards, different front (wheel opening is 2 1/2 iches larger) fenders, different back fenders (2 1/2 inches less wide and indented for the paneled bed sides), an 8 Ft Express Box ( as opposed to a 6 1/2 foot Pick-up Box).

Everything on your list looks doable except the Crown Vic suspension. It's too wide for the F-2. With the 460 your best bet on the suspension would be a Mustang II IFS or possibly a Jag. The Volare's big steering box would be a problem for the 460. You will find F-2 parts like running boards and fenders scarce and nobody makes them in fiberglass. You could convert the F-2 to an F-1 and use F-1 fenders and running boards which are readily available. Also a reproduction F-1 pickup bed will fit the shortened frame if you wanted to go that route instead of the flatbed. Shortening requires two cuts, 8 inches just behind the cab and 12 inches off the rear. I converted my 48 F-3 to an F-1. Check out my gallery...

Metal F1 Fenders are much harder to find than F2+ fenders - both front and back. F1 Running Boards, not so hard.
Honestly, if you want an F1 size truck I'd buy an F1 rather than try to convert an F2. Just my opinion. I'd be tempted to leave yours an F2 - they are pretty nice all fixed up!
