Question Paint Job Cost

I want to have my 89 F-150 painted and am wondering about what it would cost me. It is two tone grey and burgundy and I want the same as original. I don't want the inside of the bed done as I am having a Z-bart bed lining put in. There are no dents or any rust repairs to contend with. What is a reasonable price?
Thanks!

Truck basic paint time = 20 hrs, two tone add 6 hrs.
26x$75= $1950 (few will low-ball it there tho!)

Guess-timate $2500

Any rust or body work req'd? add for that.

There's no way to give you an accurate answer without a bunch more information. It all depends on so many variables, such as what you expect as far as quality. I know everone says they just want a basic paint job, then they expect to get it painted for $1000, including materials. Those days are loooong gone. Materials alone are over $1000 if you choose basecoat/ clearcoat (and you should). But IF your truck has solid paint on it (as in no peeling) and IF it doesn't need major bodywork or panel replacement, but just needs to be blocked and shot, there's still about 40 hours of labor in removing trim, prep work, masking and painting. If you and a buddy with some knowledge of bodywork can do it in your spare time, count on $1000-$1500, using good-quality materials. If you go to a shop, expect 5 times that much. Personally, if even think you can do it yourself, I beleive you can. There are so many good videos out there for guys just like you and me, that it only makes sense to try it. You can do prep work pretty much anywhere ( home garage or even carport) with a rented compressor, then rent a spray booth from a body shop for a day or a weekend to shoot the sealer, color and clear and not only save a ton of money, but have the feeling of accomplishment that doing it yourself brings. It's easier than you think and as long as you follow the instructions and are prepared, you will turn out a quality job.

I'm dropping my truck off this weekend to get painted, it's an 89 f150. The guy is painting it for around $600. I am removing the trim myself, and not getting any body work done. I'm also getting a single stage white paint, no color match, so it's less $ for supplies. This is my definition of a cheap paint job and my expectations out of it are rust prevention for at least 10 years. Before this I have never ever washed my truck, and I took pride in that since it's truely a beater vehicle. I have found some local guys who painted a bmw for me a few years back for $1000, it was a base/clear with some bodywork. They wanted cash and gave no receipt. Ask around and you'll find someone who knows someone who will be willing to paint cheap on evenings/weekends.

Maaco sprayed my truck and fixed a couple dents for $750 and did a good job. I did the prep except for the final sanding and tapeing.

The way I understand it, if you remove your moldings, trim, door handles etc. and wash the truck up and deliver the paint shop a paint ready surface it drops the cost dramatically.
