sending units compatable?

i came across a complete factory fuel system (tank and pumps out of an 89 i do believe) and i was curious if the fuel level sending unit would work with my 84's guages.

i am going to assume that the tanks will swap without a problem, if i am wrong, please correct me.

well hard to say. the setup in the 89 is an efi based pump which is where the sender/fuel level attach to. worth a try but a replacement shouldnt be hard to locate.
