ok how important is it to have the front sway bar in place? i ask because i just noticed that mine has one frame mount broken off and is just hanging on the sway bar should i get this welded or just take the whole thing off? if i take it off how will it affect the ride?
Depends on how you use the truck. If you spend a lot of time on the road particularly the highways, they are nice to have to steady the ride. Towing is less tricky with them in place as well. The body roll will increase especially in hard corners and heavy crosswinds with them removed but overall I never was very thrilled with what they did for the ride. But then I removed them when I lifted the truck to keep them from limiting my suspension articulation.
On a side note, my 92 had the factory quad front shocks which helped with the ride once the sway bars were gone. I eventually even dropped the auxiliary shocks as well in favor of a softer ride and better suspension response.
like grey said. i pulled the front sway since i have dual shocks up front. if i had single shocks i probably would have left the sway bar on. my rear is still on because i tow.
My 1985 Bronco XLT has front and rear sway bars, not sure if stock but does. I also had a 1980 F150 Custom that had front and rear sway bars.. I think their a pain in the a** I always have problems with em. My 1980 busted the bracket that holds the driver side on a curb. My 85 somehow bent the sh** out the bushing bracket, and lost the bushing.
I was thinking of installing a rear sway bar to help with towing on the highway. I don't expect to be going off road for a few more years with the new paint job and all.
