Was going to take my battery out and replace it next week. Found a deal on a great battery that goes on sale next week but the store charges 12.99 to change batteries. No thanks. Does a 2000 Expy EB require you keep a live battery hooked up for the memory or can you take it out for a few hours to replace it. Tks
I had my battery disconnected for about 8 hours while I changed plugs and did some radio work (adding bluetooth) with no ill affects. Radio presets on FM1 stay but you lose others (FM2, AM).
Use a "jump box" to keep the memory of the various components from being blanked.
Not sure what a "jump box" is but the store sold a device for about $10. May as well have them do it for $3 more. So if i only loose am and FMA no big deal. Don't want it to mess with power seats, mirrors etc or will you loose this stuff?
They also make little cigarette plugs that take a 9v battery for just this purpose. My suggestion, just swap it in the parking lot, there will be a core charge so you will need to give them the other battery back anyway. Power will be off for a few minutes, tops.
The Expy's call for a 65 series battery and can be had at wally world for 75 bucks. Thier battery will outlast most anything else on the market and carries great warranty.
well after sitting for over a week without a battery my 5.4l eb expiy doesent seen to have lost much that ive noticed, actually, nothing at all that ive noticed
