My new to me X has the climate control, my previous one did not. When you press the " auto " button the AC turns on? Is this correct if I want to use the heat or is it meant only for the summer time? It doesn't appear to turn the fan on but maybe I am doing something wrong.
First off, be glad that it works! Those units are known to be tempermental. (Mine is dead ) Trying to find a salvage replacement.
To answer your question, as I understand it the Auto feature will keep the temp. in the cabin at (near) your set temp, using a/c or heat as needed. So the a/c light comes on whenever in auto mode. I usually press the a/c button to cancel it when I want just heat because it annoys me! The logic that the a/c is on, on a cold day doesnt sit well with me.
I like the auto feature in my 2003 V10. I noticed the AC light on all the time and thought that was strange, but the heat turns on once the engine starts to warm.....it does not blow cold air at start-up on the cool/cold mornings. I just let it set a 74 degrees all winter and summer here in PA. I have started to use my heated seats. This will be my first PA winter with the Excursion. It certainly has more bells and whistles than my 98 Explorer XLT. I still have the '98 and it 's running strong but the 2003 is a towing machine and I like it, Mike.
On my 03 Excursion with auto climate control it has a seperate button on the panel that you press in to turn the A/C on. I think they all do. Look at yours and see if it donsn't have an A/C button.
Ok I went out and looked at my automatic climate control, the A/C button 2nd one from the right top corner of the the climiate control faceing it. The compresser will not kick in if it is off except on defroster I think. Urbanxx
