I am running this same filter pre-pump with no problems and no loss of pressure on my gauge. Because of my grease conversion my Bosch stocker has been relocated and pulling veggie oil through a 5 micron filter and diesel through the NAPA 2 micron. No problems so far over 28,000 miles.
Still trying to gather my facts. Been reading all I can on ITP and it looks good. Another question is there a filter inside the mixing valve? Or is the only filter the straining screen on the plastic unbrella? Thanks again.

Yes. Look at the IPT directions and you can see the filter at the black foot of the pump. Also in the mixing valve, there are screens that have gotten plugged. IMO, it is good to remove them because by some law, problems are mandated to be at the worst time possible. IOW, a Sun Evening in the middle of BFE and you see the funny kid in overalls playing the banjo.
When you get crud, there is only one solution. Drop the tank to clean the filters. Doing the kit means you have SCHEDULED shutdown time. IOW, it is at your convenience. Unscheduled shutdown time is when you are in the middle of BFE.
