Working on my fathers 96 F350
When I change the filter, and cycle the key my fuel bowl wont fill up,why?
I have a problem with the truck acting like it runs out of fuel at high rpms?

How many miles on the truck? How do you know it's outta fuel? Next time it quits or acts up immediately shut it off and remove the filter cover and check the level.. May be a tired fuel pump..

Check the fuel pressure. On the Fuel Pressure Regulator, on the side of the fuel bowl on the drivers side of the truck, there is a schraeder valve. There may be a black cap on it. Get an inexpensive tire guage and measure the pressure at idle. Put a rag under it to catch any spilled fuel. It should read at least 50psi. If it is less than that you can shim the FPR with a BB. Post back the results so we can help you.

Check this link out. In it Cuda_Jim shows a picture on the 3rd or 4th post.

I agree with Dually its fuel pressure but Id suggest checking the FPR screen first as Im willing to bet its clogged, that becomes the most pronounced at higher rpms.

just like oversize said. check the FPR screen. if you have the fuel filter/cap off the bowl look to the driver side inside the bowl. you will see a small hole towards the top. get you a mirror and flash light and look in that hole. you should see a nice clean shiny screen. if its all clogged up with gunk like it probably is then take you a Q tip and break the cotton ends off so u just have the stick. LIGHTLY use the ends of the Q tip sticks to get the gunk out. do this until you get it to a nice shiny clean screen then check the fuel pressure and take it for a drive to see if the problem persists. thats if the fuel pressure is fine. i would shim it even if its in the 40-50psi range
