hydro clutch problem?

I have a 95 f150 with the 300 IL6 and a 5 speed standard transmission.
when I am driving down the road I will hear a knocking semi metallic/hollow noise (more like a thok) when i hit bumps. I also hear it sometimes when I put in my clutch.
I got stuck in 3rd gear once =0 Couldnt get it to disengage and after 500 feet of swearing tugging revving and clutch slamming it came out. Hasn't happened since thankfully!

It has a hard time going directly in to first sometimes. If i sit with the tranny in neutral and the clutch disengaged then try to go into first sometimes it grinds bad and makes a horrible sound.
I thought at first it was the throw out bearing going out BUT I the bearing is brand new 6k miles ago... So is the clutch and disk.
any ideas?
Also check the level in the master cylinder for the clutch.
Does your clutch pedal feel smooth down and back? No binding?
Haven t had time to do the tranny fluid yet BUT i did check the level in my clutch MC. it was about 1/4 inch low. Would that be enough to cause something like this? I did notice some fluid on the tube under the clutch MC that was definitely brake fluid. I filled it up to the "step" and closed it back up again. I havent noticed any real problem but then I havent had any problem with first gear since. Its only been one morning though so far and It never did it every day.
I havent noticed any leak from the slave. How do I bleed a clutch? Is there a pip somewhere or do I just open the MC and depress the clutch a few times?
Anyone have a trick for filling up the tranny without spilling fluid all over yourself?
Thanks for the replies guys.
Most common recommendation if there are problems - replace both the master and slave at the same time.
On bleeding - there are many, many posts here on the Master/Slave Hydraulic Clutch setup.
Many have had quick success, many have had a (new) slave go bad and cause pressure leakage, many have taken quite awhile for the bleeding to be fully effective. I've done brake bleeding but not the clutch. It sounds like the Hydraulic clutch is a different, although theoretically similar, animal.
You've been on the forum for awhile - check out the search function. You should find plenty of wisdom for your endeavor. Others will, no doubt, chime in.

On the filling of the tranny - I have the M5R2 Mazda 5 speed. I have 4 ramps and I drove the truck on the ramps and drained her. No mess there. My fill plug was frozen (welded) so I filled from the top / shifter. Hopefully your plug won't be frozen.
I don't recall if there's enough room (I think there is) to fill it easily using a funnel and the ATF/Mercon you'll be using (if they are 1 quart bottles).
Don't think you'll have a mess as long as you have a big drain pan, luck on the 2 bolts and have access for filling.

When shifting my M5OD, If I had the clutch all the way to the floor, it was fussy about going into 1st/2nd, etc. If I kept the pedal around 2/3 inches off the floor, she went right in. (I drive mainly in the city, so, I do alot of shifting...) I was thinking of putting a block under the pedal just to see if I'm correct in assuming this.
Please chime in on the pedal travel issue.
I know how to adjust the clutch and the pedal travel on any tractor/trailer, so, I'm not a noob. Mabe it's just my rig, but it works smooth for me...
