not happy

does anybody know about what it would cost to have the tranny rebuilt in an 05 screw 5.4 litre. I'm probably gonna have to get the cam phasers done too because they have been making a very annoying noise and getting worse. I am starting to be really unhappy with this truck. I always thought ford was the best truck but with most of my friends having either the tundra or titan I am starting to think I made a mistake. somebody please tell me otherwise.

I think it dosent matter what kind of truck you have their will always be days when you just feel like yours is the worst. As far as your tranny issue it really depends on what kind of problems you have and what shop you take it to. If u have the aftermarket warranty it will help with the costs, On my 01screw i had to have the trans rebuilt and between the aftermarket warranty and the ford dealer I only has to pay 40 bucks. As far as your friends trucks it may seem like they havent had any problems yet they will and rest assured they will be costly just because of the badges they wear. best thing to do is to take care of it and drive on

I have a 06 screw, and I know how you feel. My check engine light flashed and I ended up replacing a cat and I thought that solved my problem, until the check engine light flashed again, I really wanted to drive the truck back to ford and blowing it up but I read a few posts on this site and followed a few suggestions. I even brought it back to the dealership I was having a problem with and got them to do a tune up, well they broke 2 plugs (I had to pay to have them removed) sucked. I told them to take out the plugs and pull the truck out and I would fix it elsewhere, well after calling every garage and even some backyard mechanics I was still no further ahead, so I had to bite the bullet and let them finish. I got the truck back and have not had any problems since and it is been 3 months. I was ready to trade it in but it was frustration and being unlucky. When I hooked up my travel trailer 35 foot 9300lbs, I am glad I had my Ford. Now that it is running excellent I realized it was just my emotions getting the better of me. I was more annoyed at spending unplanned money. But if it was an appliance that I had to repair I probably would have felt the same way, Frustration.
I have a friend that has Tundra and he is not impressed and he traded his Ford for it but tells me he made a mistake.
All I want to say is hang in there, I know how you feel, and when your problems are solved hopefully you will feel the same way I did relief and glad I still have the truck.
They are a beautiful Truck.
Take Care.

Kevin

Thanx for the replies guys. I have the truck in the shop. It's getting a ford rebuilt tranny with a 3year 100k warranty for $2300.00 installed. I'm thinkin about gettin some kind extended warranty because the cam phasers are makin noise so if they go at least it will be covered. I can't wait to get it back. I know what you mean about emotions, I was pissed off but now that its getting fixed I've calmed down

cluv15, you don't say how many miles you have on your 05 or what kind of transmission problems you were having.

truck has 66,000 miles on it, and it would rev to about 4000 before it would move, then once it finally starting moving it would rev back to about 4500 before it shifted and it would just kinda slide into gear very mushy. new tranny should hopefully be in tomorrow as long as everything goes well.
