I need printer help

I just installed a new lexmark x5650 printer on my computer. I am using windows xp. The install went fine, but i can't print anything. I was able to print an alignment page,so I know the printer itself works. when the box opens for print options,I have the correct printer high lighted. On the task bar there is a little printer icon that says 3 documents in queue. What do I need to do to get them to print? thanks for any help!!

Double click on the printer in the taskbar. What is the status of the documents?

You need to make sure the port you are using is correct..

Goto the printer properties and then the ports or device tab..

Make sure you have the USB port selected and that it is not the LPT1 port..

I already posted this in the other thread.

'ben,

Some suggestions.

• Open the printer queue and delete the 'pending' jobs.

• Unplug printer from pc (USB cable or Parallel cable????) Wait a couple of minutes, then plug back in. PC 'should' see the printer.

• IF the above doesn't work, shut down both the pc and the printer. Leave shut down for at least 30 seconds. Re-boot pc. When pc is up and running (fully), re-boot printer.
Open printer properties and send a test page.
IF test page prints, send another print job.

• Report back on progress. . . . .

Here's a question for you. Did you install the drivers and software before you plugged the printer into the computer? If not, uninstall the printer in your Windows control panel, unplug the printer from the computer, reinstall the drivers and software, then plug the printer back into the computer. I don't know why this is such a problem, but it is. Just one of many Windows quirks.

Another option--if you have a router, and the printer is a network printer (it will have an 8P8C port (often erroneously called an RJ45 jack, either way, it's a network port) somewhere in back with the USB-D port.

thanks for all the suggestions, seems like 00blueoval ranger's suggestions did the trick. I shut it down and restarted the pc. I printed a test page and a tech article off of FTE,so I think it is good now!!
