My 1978 400, has a remanufactured carb. (small decal says reman-carb) there is no other tags or even a name of company that did the reman. My question is there a way to identify this carb to be sure it is for a 400 and not a 351. It is a motorcraft 2150? Can it be identified by other markings or throttle bore size?
Kevin
A Motorcraft carb uses a tag that is screwed down to one of the top cover bolts in front. If that carb is good enough to work on a 351 it is plenty for a 400, comparing stock motor to stock motor of course.

I stated that this is a reman carb and there is no tag, also I have read on this site that cfm rating is different between the 351 and 400. I am trying to find out if my carb is correct by physical markings or measurments.
Thanks for the reply

Im sure you have a 2150 motorcraft. If so that carb was available for both the 351m and the 400. The 400 doesnt need any more cfm than a 351. Depending on where the carb was bought it was probably remanufactured by Champion.
