Yes there is a difference. The E99 Van turbos were the E99 truck turbos with a 1.15 housing. 99.5 + van turbos were the same as the trucks with a 1.15 housing.

Does the compressor housing have 4 or 5 bolts? 4 is an E99, 5 are the 99.5+. With that build date, there's a good possibility that its an E99, that's why I say check the housing bolts.

Jim -

Check your PMs. I sent you a link to my ad on another site. Those are all the pics I have at present but can get you that shot tomorrow after work (3PM-ish Eastern).

Brendan, I looked at your pics on PSN and that's a E99 van turbo. No question about it. 4 compressor housing bolts, 1.10 housing, and has the OBS (or wicked wheel) compressor wheel.

I'm guessing with a build date of 10/98 it could be an e99 - if it is, do you think you'll need the pedestal? I may still be able to get it.

Here's the closest I have right now of the angle you requested:

4 bolts on the compressor housing, so I guess that makes it an e99 - could be your lucky day Jim!

I'll be interested to see what the e99 van turbo does on a truck. Might be another nice & cheap option for upgrading the turbo on the early-birds, if there aren't any plans of much bigger sticks. I'd bet it would support Stage 1 or maybe 2 singles if done right.

I think you're right Joe - you're in/around the 400's with your van turbo. I think the major holdback would be injectors after that, and with the 15* HPOP in the e99's then singleshots or hybrids are the perfect way to "lighten the load" on that HPOP and maybe negate the need to upgrade that component.
