Keep My 99 PSD or Upgrade?

I'm going to be coming into some money from a auto accident eventually. I'm trying to decide if I should keep my 99 e350 with the 7.3 turbo power stroke diesel. It has bent floors and handicap equipment dealer/installer refuses to put a lift in my van. I love it's a diesel with only 233,920 miles on it. Should I look for a newer gas powered van with lift? Or should I look for a 03 or newer diesel van and get a lift installed? There is the tommy gate option as well. But thought kid ask some fellow ford enthusiasts for there thoughts if it was them.

Thanks in Advance, Alice

You love that yours is a diesel, I love that mine is the V10 gas! Quieter, arguably lower maintenance costs, way more power, similar torque (vs your 1999)! I get significantly worse fuel economy, of course, but whether that matters depends on how much you drive.

yes i do love its a diesel. its the first diesel i have owned so there is a learning curve to it. but my fav thing is diesel prices are more stable. her i live gas jumps around. like a week ago gas jumped 25 cents a gallon and diesel was cheaper. admiditly gas is cheaper now but in that time diesel only fluctuated 3 cents. i did think of another potion for my van. its to get a actual mobility ramp instead the dual ramps i have now. ones have now are super slippery when whet and my power chair has fall off them several times.

since you are in Oklahoma and don't have rust issues like up north here you should keep your 99 with the 7.3powerstroke. fuel economy and reliability are excellent. service it properly and it will be going at 500,000 .

not sure why you can't get a wheel chair lift installed in it, I've seen so many different ones in these vans, sliding door might be more complicated........

friend of mine just closed his wrecking yard recently, he specialized in north American light trucks and vans and any vans that came in with wheel chair lifts he would give away to anybody who needed them. local garages knew about it and always passed the assistance on.

I see rusty gas powered wheel chair vans here under 2500 , but they usually need bodywork, brake lines, etc.

same van with a diesel in it will be double the price, in the same condition if/when you can find one.

keep yours....

My desicion may been made for me, LOL. Found out I need to buy a new shed. So I'll be fixing up my current van. It runs nicely atleast. Want add some 2003+ manual towing mirrors so I can see better. Also will have the rust spots cut out and repainted so it's plane white like new. Then I'm thinking a 48" aluminum tommy gate on the back and a buckstop or iron cross front bumper.

They say they can't install lift because my floor has waves in it and is not flat
